SCIENCE
Scenario
Scenario
- Adequate intake of dietary fiber is associated with digestive health and reduced risk for heart disease, stroke, hypertension, certain gastrointestinal disorders, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers.
- Only 5% of men and 9% of women are getting the recommended daily amount of dietary fiber which is 38 grams & 25 grams per day respectively.
- Insufficient fiber intake is associated with a higher risk of heart disease and diabetes, two of the most common diseases in the U.S. & worldwide.)
- In people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inadequate fibre intake may exacerbate symptoms such as constipation and abdominal pain, whereas eating enough fibre can help to relieve symptoms.

The presence of fenugreek seeds in various traditional medicinal systems is due to their composition of diverse phytochemicals, including a diverse amino acid profile.
Fenugreek seeds emerge as a nutritional powerhouse, boasting remarkable fiber and protein content. Compared to conventional options like oats and quinoa, fenugreek offers a substantial boost in both nutrients, promoting satiety and aids in digestion. Its versatility in culinary applications makes it an excellent choice for those seeking a holistic dietary addition. Embracing fenugreek as a high fiber source aligns with a health-conscious lifestyle, contributing to overall well-being and nutritional balance.
Mechanism
of action
Mechanism of Action
Fenuflakes® is standardized to Protein, Fiber, and almost negligible net carbohydrate. The exceptional combination of soluble and insoluble fiber makes Fenuflakes® a one stop solution to reduce the Glycemic Index of certain foods, increase the insulin sensitivity and encourage the intestinal health.
The fiber combination of Fenuflakes increases the viscosity of food in the small bowel by its gel forming properties which in response slows the interactions of digestive enzymes and nutrients, thus slows the absorption time of glucose in the bloodstream.
On the other hand, the nutrients gradual breakdown and absorption due to raised or increased viscosity of food leads to delayed delivery of nutrients to the distal ileum instead of getting absorbed early in the small bowel. The delivery of nutrients to the distal ileum causes the mucosal L-cells to release GLP-1, or glucagon-like peptide, which aids in the growth of the pancreatic beta cells responsible for producing insulin, thus increasing the production and sensitivity of insulin.
Fenuflakes® contributes to intestinal health by promoting the formation and growth of good gut microbiota. The fermentation of soluble fiber by gut microbiome increases short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) levels. Fenuflakes® also reduces bloating, a key consideration for people consuming a high fiber diet.
Efficacy
Efficacy
Human Clinical Study 1: A double-blind, placebo-controlled cross-over clinical study was conducted at Madras Diabetes research foundation on a diabetic population to check the effects of Fenuflakes® (Defatted fenugreek seed flakes) on 24-hour glycemic response.
Result: Fenuflakes® showed significant improvement in glycaemic variability of participants compared to iso caloric control diet. Fasting blood glucose levels and HbA1c levels showed significant reduction in participants on test diet. The study results strongly suggest potential benefits of Fenuflakes® for type 2 diabetic population.
Human Clinical Study 2: Significant Findings in Glycemic Index Study. GI values calculated according to the method recommended by FAO/WHO. Fifteen healthy (BMI≤22.9) volunteers aged between 18-45 years were recruited at the Glycemic IndexTesting Centre-MDRF.
Result: Fenuflakes® helps to bring the Glycemic Index of High GI foods to low / medium.
Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore – GI Trials (Food Application Studies)
To Evaluate how much Fenuflakes® can be added to different foods to get nutrient claims.
Result: Fenuflakes® can be added to cookies, energy bars, wheat flour, bread, noodles, cakes, etc. to claim high fiber, high protein, source of fiber & source of protein claims.
Clinical Study 3: Investigate the prebiotic effect of Fenuflakes® in 3 healthy adult donors using ProDigest’s (Belgium) short term single stage colonic simulation.
Result:
- Stimulation effects on acetate, propionate, and butyrate
- Less Gas Production & Bloating
- Enrichment of beneficial gut microbiota
