OUR PHILOSOPHY
Embracing innovation as our compass, we navigate a path driven by purpose, addressing critical needs with unwavering dedication. Explore our philosophy to uncover the journey behind our transformative approach to work.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
At Indus Biotech, our goal was to create a natural medicine derived from plants to treat long-term health issues, known as chronic diseases. Chronic diseases are caused by various gene dysfunctions, such as Metabolic Disorders like Type 2 diabetes and autoimmune diseases like Rheumatoid Arthritis.
In the treatment of chronic diseases, relying on a powerful single molecule (New Chemical Entity) created by modern medicine for long-term use may not be suitable. These potent NCEs can lead to two types of toxicity during extended treatment:
- Metabolic Toxicity: These potent NCEs can become more toxic during metabolic breakdown, causing harm to organs like the kidney and liver.
- Off-target Toxicity: These powerful molecules may activate or shut down proteins involved in various physiological activities, leading to unintended effects.
With prolonged use, these molecules can accumulate in other tissues and organs, potentially causing harmful effects. For example, the selective COX2 inhibitor VIOXX, designed to alleviate Rheumatoid Arthritis symptoms, induced cardiac toxicity during extended use.
Indus Biotech believes that a change in approach is needed to develop medications that are “kinder” and “gentler” for chronic use. There is an evolutionary connection between plants and humans, and many plant molecules can be safely processed by the human genetic machinery. Plants produce secondary metabolites as a response to environmental challenges, and some of these can have beneficial effects on human physiology.
Indus Biotech is actively working on technologies to extract these molecules from plants. The company employs modern tools such as protein binding, pharmacology, toxicology, and randomized human control trials to research and develop these plant-derived molecules for treating chronic diseases.
While our initial mission to develop botanical drugs for chronic disease management faced challenges, we adapted our focus to Nutraceutical molecule development. This shift allows us to explore the potential of plant-derived compounds for promoting overall well-being.

SUSTAINABILITY PRACTICES
Solar panels
Powering our factory with solar panels for basic electricity needs is a smart and sustainable choice. By harnessing the sun’s energy, we’re reducing our carbon footprint and cutting costs. It’s our commitment to a greener future and efficient operations.
Packaging
At Indus Biotech, we’re taking steps towards sustainable packaging. Our gradual transition reflects our commitment to reducing environmental impact while ensuring product quality.
ETP Water treatment
We’re proud to implement an innovative approach to water management by treating Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) water. This recycled water is then used for various uses such as gardening purposes through mist sprinklers, demonstrating our commitment to sustainability and responsible resource utilization within our factory operations.
Vermi composting
We adopt an eco-conscious approach by repurposing ETP generated sludge for vermicomposting in our gardening practices. This sustainable solution not only reduces waste but also enriches our soil with nutrient-rich organic matter. Through this initiative, we strive to promote environmental stewardship while cultivating thriving green spaces around our premises.
