Background: Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) is a leguminous, annual plant originating in India and North Africa. In recent years Fenugreek has been touted as an ergogenic aid. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of Fenugreek supplementation on strength and body composition.

Methods: 49 Resistance trained men were matched according to body weight and randomly assigned to ingest in a double blind manner capsules containing 500 mg of a placebo (N = 23, 20 ± 1.9 years, 178 ± 6.3 cm, 85 ± 12.7 kg, 17 ± 5.6 %BF) or Fenugreek (N = 26, 21 ± 2.8 years, 178 ± 6 cm, 90 ± 18.2 kg, 19.3 ± 8.4 %BF). Subjects participated in a supervised 4-day per week periodized resistance-training program split into two upper and two lower extremity workouts per week for a total of 8-weeks. At 0, 4, and 8-weeks, subjects underwent hydrodensiometery body composition, 1-RM strength, muscle endurance, and anaerobic capacity testing. Data were analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA and are presented as mean آ± SD changes from baseline after 60-days.

Results: No significant differences (p > 0.05) between groups were noted for training volume. Significant group time interaction effects were observed among groups in changes in body fat (FEN: -2.3 ± 1.4%BF; PL: -0.39 ± 1.6 % BF, p < 0.001), leg press 1-RM (FEN: 84.6 ± 36.2 kg; PL: 48 ± 29.5 kg, p < 0.001), and bench press 1-RM (FEN: 9.1 ± 6.9 kg; PL: 4.3 ± 5.6 kg, p = 0.01). No significant interactions was observed among groups for Wingate power analysis (p = 0.95) or muscular endurance on bench press (p = 0.87) or leg press (p = 0.61). In addition, there were no changes among groups in any clinical safety data including lipid panel, liver function, kidney function, and/or CBC panel (p > 0.05).


Conclusion: It is concluded that 500 mg of this proprietary Fenugreek extraction had a significant impact on both upper- and lower-body strength and body composition in comparison to placebo in a double blind controlled trial. These changes were obtained with no clinical side effects.

Background: TESTOSURGE is a novel, proprietary substance extracted from Fenugreek (Trigonella Foenun greacum) seeds and is patent pending by INDUS BIOTECH. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of TESTOSURGE supplementation on strength, body composition and hormonal profiles.

Methods: 30 resistance trained males completed all phases of the study. Subjects were matched according to total body weight and randomly assigned in a double-blind manner to ingest either 500 mg of a placebo (N = 13, 21 آ± 3 yrs, 180 آ± 6.4 cm, 84 آ± 15 kg, 18.3 آ± 6.8 BF%) or TESTOSURGE (N = 17, 21 آ± 2.8 yrs, 178 آ± 5.8 cm, 85 آ± 9.6 kg, 18.8 آ± 4.8 BF%) once per day for eight weeks. Subjects participated in a supervised, 4-day per week periodized resistance training program consisting of two upper extremity and two lower extremity workouts per week for a total of 8 weeks. At weeks 0, 4 and 8, hydrodensiometry body composition, 1 RM bench press and leg press, muscular endurance, anaerobic power and hormonal profiles were assessed. Statistical analyses utilized a two-way ANOVA with repeated measures for all criterion variables (p ≤ 0.05). Data are presented as mean آ± SD changes from baseline values.

Results: Significant group أ…~ time interaction effects occurred over the eight week period for body fat percentage (TES: −1.77 آ± 1.52%, PL: −0.55 آ± 1.72%; p = 0.048), total testosterone (TES: 0.97 آ± 2.67 ng/ml, PL: −2.10 آ± 3.75 ng/ml; p = 0.018) and bioavailable testosterone (TES: 1.32 آ± 3.45 ng/ml, PL: −1.69 آ± 3.94 ng/ml; p = 0.049). A significant main effect for time (p ≤ 0.05)was noted for bench press 1 RM, leg press 1 RM and lean body mass. No significant changes were detected among groups for Wingate peak or mean power, total body weight, free testosterone, dihydrotestosterone, estrogen, hemodynamic variables, or clinical safety data including lipid panel, liver function, kidney function, and/or CBC panel (p > 0.05).

Conclusion: It is concluded that 500 mg of daily TESTOSURGE supplementation significantly impacted body fat percentage, total testosterone and bioavailable testosterone when compared to a placebo in a double-blind fashion. These changes were attained without any clinical side effects. We conclude that combined with a structured resistance training program, TESTOSURGE can significantly improve body composition and increase the anabolic hormonal status in resistance trained males over an 8 week period.

BIOCREATآ® has been developed to deliver Creatine to muscle tissue and increase its bio-availability without the need of using any dextrose or sugar.

What is Creatine used for and how does it work?

  • In sports nutrition Creatine is used to increase anaerobic energy release.
  • Creatine transport to the target cell is mediated by secretion of insulin from the pancreas. Therefore, 75 grams of dextrose is used for the delivery of 5 grams of creatine.
  • Insulin secretion is mediated by sugar. The additional dosage of 75 grams of dextrose adds unnecessary calories and manifests itself as an increase in glycogen storage. This causes an adverse change in body composition and results in increased weight.

What is BIOCREAT and how is it different?
BIOCREAT obviates the need for dextrose in the transportation of Creatine. The use of BIOCREAT with conventional creatine monohydrate supplements can prove to be an effective means for enhancing creatine uptake while eliminating the need for excessive simple carbohydrates. An 8 week clinical study conducted on 47 resistance-trained young males showed that 3.5 grams of creatine with 0.9 grams of BIOCREAT is as effective as 5 grams of creatine with 75 grams of dextrose and had a significant impact on upper body strength and body composition.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of combined creatine and fenugreek extract supplementation on strength and body composition. Forty-seven resistance trained men were matched according to body weight to ingest either 70g of a dextrose placebo (PL), 5 g creatine/70 g of dextrose (CRD) or 3.5 g creatine/900 mg fenugreek extract (CRF) and participate in a 4-d/wk periodized resistance-training program for 8-weeks. At 0, 4, and 8-weeks, subjects were tested on body composition, muscular strength and endurance, and anaerobic capacity. Statistical analyses utilized a separate 3X3 (condition [PL vs. CRD vs. CRF] x time [T1 vs. T2 vs. T3]) ANOVAs with repeated measures for all criterion variables (p ≤ 0.05). No group x time interaction effects or main effects (p > 0.05) were observed for any measures of body composition. CRF group showed significant increases in lean mass at T2 (p = 0.001) and T3 (p = 0.001). Bench press 1RM increased in PL group (p = 0.050) from T1-T3 and in CRD from T1-T2 (p = 0.001) while remaining significant at T3 (p < 0.001). CRF group showed a significant increase in bench press 1RM from T1-T2 (p < 0.001), and also increased from T2-T3 (p = 0.032). Leg press 1RM significantly increased at all time points for PL, CRD, and CRF groups (p < 0.05). No additional between or within group changes were observed for any performance variables and serum clinical safety profiles (p > 0.05). In conclusion, creatine plus fenugreek extract supplementation had a significant impact on upper body strength and body composition as effectively as the combination of 5g of creatine with 70g of dextrose. Thus, the use of fenugreek with creatine supplementation may be an effective means for enhancing creatine uptake while eliminating the need for excessive amounts of simple carbohydrates.

At Indus Biotech we have established stringent in-process testing and quality control measures at every stage of the manufacturing process. This ensures batch to batch consistency of our products.

  • All inputs (raw materials, chemicals, and solvents) are tested before use.
  • In-process testing is carried out at various stages and CCP’s (Critical Control Points) have been identified.
  • Every batch of finished goods is tested prior to dispatch.

Our products conform to Cal Prop 65 standards with respect to heavy metals and residual solvents. Lead, in our finished products, is NMT (Not More Than) 0.5 PPM (Parts Per Million). At Indus, we use Ethanol (Cane Alcohol) for processing.

Guidelines

We apply DSHEA (Dietary Supplement and Health Education Act - 1994) and USFDA Botanical Drug Guidelines (2004) in manufacturing.

Testing and Analysis

Testing is carried out using sophisticated instruments and the latest techniques such as ICPMS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry) and ICPOES (Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry) for heavy metal analysis. A Gas Chromatograph with headspace is used for checking residual solvents. Each batch is checked for purity using a HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatograph).

Finished goods are checked for:

  • Heavy metal levels
  • Microbial burden
  • Residual solvents
  • Assay

SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) are in place for each manufacturing process and BMRs (Batch Manufacturing Records) are maintained for monitoring. In-house training along with internal and third party audits are conducted on a regular basis. A COA (Certificate of Analysis) is prepared for each batch.
